I can understand that not everyone’s experience of using Hinge has been positive and dating in general isn’t black and white, even more so during the pandemic. We’ve known each other almost a year and we are very happy together, so I recommend this dating app to someone who is looking for a serious relationship. By spring I had deleted my Hinge account because I met someone special on there who is now my boyfriend. I only spoke to a few people on Hinge, but they appeared to be more genuine compared to people I had spoken to (and met) on other dating apps in the past. I was quite picky who I got chatting to because I wanted to find someone who felt right for me and me for them. After some time away from online dating and when I felt ready, I decided to try Hinge at the very start of 2021 and instantly liked the layout, the way you can create your profile and add a little quirkiness to it. Overall it wasn’t an smooth journey and finding a true match wasn’t easy to come by. So… I first ever started online dating in 2015 and was on and off some of the main apps for several years (Bumble, Happn and Tinder). There’s higher emotional literacy but so far I’ve only seen it used to emotionally manipulate in a more nuanced and intelligent way than the straight up verbal battery found on something like Tinder. Nobody on Hinge (men or women) seems to be interested in anything than slightly higher brow no-strings behaviour.Ī lovely concept, but people aren’t following or interested in Hinge’s mission. Tinder seems to have been relegated to the bottom of the pile with Bumble in the middle and Hinge at the top, not in terms of seriousness, but in class. The unfortunate downside is that while Hinge’s mission may be to help people find love and ditch the app, and to put effort into meaningful connection, it’s now used just as carelessly as every other app out there. There’s a clear focus on prompts designed to be more meaningful, decent filtering and preference options, and all in all it’s intuitive. The interface and design are much better, fresher, and more thoughtful than its peers (Tinder, Bumble). I have so many mixed feelings about Hinge but firstly want to say that my issues with it aren’t to do with the app or developers.Īs far as dating apps go, Hinge is absolutely choice number one.
